Day 20: Barakah in Community
0:00 / 0:55

The Concept

Islam is not an individualistic religion. We pray in congregation (Jama'ah). We fast together. We perform Hajj together. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: **'The Hand of Allah is with the Jama'ah (Group).'** Isolation breeds the Scarcity Mindset ('I have to fend for myself'). Community breeds the Abundance Mindset ('We are in this together'). There is specific Barakah in **eating together**. The Prophet said: 'The food of two is sufficient for three, and the food of three is sufficient for four.' When people gather to eat from one platter, the food physically expands, and hearts connect. The 'Lone Wolf' mentality starves the soul of this blessing.

The Ash'aris

The Prophet (peace be upon him) praised a tribe called the Ash'aris. He said: 'When they run out of food during battles or when their food stock for their families in Medina runs low, they gather all the food they have in one sheet and then distribute it among themselves equally by measuring it with a bowl. I am of them and they are of me.' This is the spirit of the Believer. When times get tough (recession, poverty), we don't hoard. We pool our resources. We share. This act of sharing invites Allah's Barakah, ensuring that everyone has enough. The miracle isn't just that the food lasts; it's that the fear of poverty vanishes.

Today's Action

Share a meal today. - Do not eat lunch alone at your desk. Invite a colleague. - At home, try to eat from one large platter with your family (a Sunnah) instead of separate plates. It forces you to sit closer and be mindful of others. - If you live alone, share food with a neighbor or a homeless person. Make the intention: 'O Allah, put Barakah in our gathering.'

Journaling Reflection

"How much of my life is spent in isolation? Do I view community as a distraction or a multiplier of good?"
